Does cold weather affect the performance of a Dynon AP74?

Condition.  Open the hanger door.  Inside temps between 25-35 F.  Pull the A/C out and start her up.  All the AP74 light come on and remain on.  I check the DSAB and it shows the AP74 properly connected.  I go fly the plane with the heater on.  Land ten mins later.  Shut down the engine and all switches to the off position.  Wait ten mins and restart.  All is then well with the AP74.

It is if the AP74 does not like cold temps and needs a warm up.

Pull the A/C out on a 50F or greater day and never have any issues.

Thoughts.

Well I guess I am the ONLY trooper that has EVER had cold temperature issues with the AP74 based on the # of reply’s. Not so fellow readers.

Just got off the phone w/the Dynon TEC. His reply – “Well sir, we have had several units come in w/cold temp issues and our fix was to add more soldering to a particular wiring group. Your AP74 is in the mail back to you.”

Since I live in El Paso I guess I will have to wait until next DEC to have cold temp operations.

Cheers and good luck with your AP74’s.
