AP74 Lights up

I have the AP74,D180 and servos all connected up including the CWS button. I realise that the AP74 and the D180 both have different firmware but when i power up the system all the lights on the AP74 light up and the autopilot dose not register on the D180. Is it ok to have the AP74 on like this to do the firmware upgrade. It wont damage it will it?

You need the ap74 on to do the update,everything should then work ok after that.
