Hi There,

I'm new to homebuilts and non-certified avionics. I am wondering if I can fly IFR with a panel that is complete Dynon (with a Garmin 430)? Or do the indicators (glide slope, etc) need to be certified?

Thanks,

Dico

Basically yes, but depending on what country you're, in as there can be some 'issues'. IMO 2 x Skyviews would be a minimum or steam gauges as backups, some like a combination of both.

The general understanding is that the only things that actually need to be certified (in the US) are the transponder, and any GPS that is used for IFR. Beyond that, you're free to use non-certified equipment and avionics. All equipment still needs to pass the periodic performance checks for the airplane to be flown IFR (pitot/static, transponder, etc). Dynon products will pass all of these tests.

Yep

And it works REALLY well, especially when you will be single pilot IFR, the AP74 and autopilot system are a must.

You will need a HS34 for the ARINC 429 connection.

I can't be happier, well maybe dual skyviews and the new GTN's, but for now its fantastic.
