arinc 429 connected to garmin GTN

The skyview ARINC 429 installation indicate pin3 (serial RX) should be connected to GTN pin 8 (RS 232 out 1).
Does the RS 232 Ground (pin 46 on GTN) should also be connected to ARINC 429 pin 20 ground?
Same question for the GPS source from the GTN to the transponder (one RS 232 wire or 2 wires with a RS 232 ground)

Any of their common grounds will do, it's not necessary to ground exactly as per book in this case.
