Hey Guys, can you confirm or correct my understanding to how ARINC works with Skyview Map Screen?

I just updated to 5.0 yesterday included all new databases and updated the transponder (with placard). I think I got everything updated correctly and seems to be working fine except for my mapping screen.

My GTN 650 is not currently in the plane, so there is no data going through ARINC.. When I am on the main screen and I have the Map visible I see a black screen with big question mark on the location of the airplane. But when I select the Map menu, the map and weather displays fine.

I am assuming that location from the main screen comes from ARINC which Skyview is not receiving so it can't show where the airplane is, but then when I go into the Map Menu, it uses Dynon GPS? Once I connect my GTN back up, the main screen will show location appropriately.

Can you confirm? Thanks

Nope, you'll notice that when you go to the map menu and the screen appears, you still have a "?" where the plane is.

We do this so you can do flight planning in your hangar with no good GPS signal. We only show you the map when you are in the map menu so you don't fly accidentally with no GPS.

This has nothing to do with ARINC. If you have a "?" this means that we are receiving data from a GPS, but it has no lock on to satellites yet. If you had no GPS signal at all, you would get a red X. Since your GTN is not in the plane, it means the Dynon GPS is working but has no lock. If the Dynon GPS was not being used, you would have a red X.
