In my RV9 I originally had a D10 that I upgraded to a D10A a little over a year ago. The most current software has been loaded. I occasionally experience an AI problem where the instrument continues to show a hard bank after doing a steep turn. The AI does finally level off after about 5 minutes are so, but it is rather disconcerting to see the AI skewed while I am flying straight an level. Everything else seems to work fine. On the original D10 I saw this frequently (though a software update helped considerably). On the D10A it only happens infrequently but still occasionally occurs. It visually appears just like a vacuum based AI that has lost vacuum. Is this likely related to hardware problems that I need to return the instrument for repair or is it a software bug that will be corrected at a future time.
Additionally, since the upgrade to the D10A the instrument seems to be extremely sensitive to heat. If the instrument has been powered on and then shut off for a few minutes (like refueling the aircraft), 90% percent of the time the screen will go gray and will have to "recover". This happens both during the summer and winter. Again it recovers but it does seem strange since I would think that after being shutoff, it would actually start to cool down, particularly in the winter when the canopy is open and the temps or in the 20s and 30s. It only happens if the instrument has been powered on for several minutes, shutoff and then powered back on.
