Audio Alerts?

I checked all the manuals and I can’t find a way do do this.

when leaving a bugged altitude I get a audio alert that tells me I am leaving the bugged altitude when climbing or descending 200’ from the bugged altitude. I was trying to find a way to tighten this to having the alerts activated at 100’ or even 50’ diversion rather than the 200’ set currently.

any help is appreciated!

I’d have to dig into the manuals and settings but 200’ is pretty standard across the industry for altitude alerts, Speaking as a 20+year airline pilot.

Ya it’s not bad but I was just thinking for IFR flight I would prefer a bit tighter margin. But heck I just got it in the air for my first flight since install yesterday after 20 years of flying the same plane with the old avionics.

Even IFR my airliner doesn't beep until near 300' off altitude. It's less of a level reminder and more of a "hey should you be changing altitdue right now? Because you haven't pre-selected anything"

Thanks I appreciate your perspective, maybe I’m overthinking it and need give it some time as this is my first taste of a fully glass panel. Even so I felt much better in my first flight yesterday than I expected to the point that I was very aware of my improved awareness and the improved ability to understand and react to all avionics than ever before with my old 50 something panel. And looking forward to improving my skills with the new tools.

You're welcome! Enjoy the new panel, this stuff is awesome. Remember to look outside some time too! But to be fair it's sometimes less cool than the panel.

If you haven't seen it watch this - Children of the Magenta

I make sure all my new first officers have seen it when they get to the sim. It's an old AA training video but still so relevant.

Try page 3-14 of the current installation manual. I don't know from certain knowledge but the reference seems clear. That is for the touch. I don't know what version display you are using.

Thanks, looks like the certified is a little different. I’m running two HDXs in a C182

This is from 3-14 of the HDX manual. It doesn't work? It seems to say you can set the width of the band. Thus, if you want an alert at 150 feet instead of 200 this is the place to set it.

"o DEVIATION BAND: When the altitude of the aircraft climbs above or descends below the altitude bug by the amount of feet or meters set here, SkyView will announce “departing altitude” aurally (if audio output is configured). "

Thanks that actually helped even though it’s in a completely different section of the Certified HDX install manual. 22.13
Ok I think I found it. I give this a try and see if I can set it up.

22.6.6 PFD SETUP Menu
....

“ALTITUDE BUG ALERTER – Enter this page to configure the altitude alerter, an audible alert when you are approaching or departing the altitude set in the ALT bug.
o CAPTURE BAND: When the altitude of the aircraft flies within this range of feet/meters of the altitude bug (when displayed), SkyView will announce “approaching altitude” aurally (if audio output is configured).
o DEVIATION BAND: When the altitude of the aircraft climbs above or descends below the altitude bug by the range of feet or meters set here, SkyView will”

Hi,

I have a Dynon SE installation. If I set an altitude on the bug, whether or not I am using the auto pilot I receive an audio warning 500 ft above or below the set altitude. This is more annoying than useful because for my purposes the warning needs to be say 100ft or maybe 200ft either side.

So in the manual it says that this can be adjusted under 3.14 PFD SETUP Menu

“ALTITUDE BUG ALERTER – Enter this page to configure the altitude alerter, an audible alert when you are approaching or departing the altitude set in the ALT bug.
o CAPTURE BAND: When the altitude of the aircraft flies within this range of feet/meters of the altitude bug (when displayed), SkyView will announce “approaching altitude” aurally (if audio output is configured).
o DEVIATION BAND: When the altitude of the aircraft climbs above or descends below the altitude bug by the range of feet or meters set here, SkyView will”

Perfect - except that the option ALTITUDE BUG ALERTER does not appear under the PFD SETUP Menu and I cannot find it anywhere else.

Has anybody else found this? How can I adjust it or alternatively switch it off?
