I have yet to fly with the SV but it won't be long now. I am confused even as I read the AP functions and the Flight Plan methods.
Is the HDG mode utilized to follow any heading, not using a FPL or GPS?
Is the TRK mode utilized to follow the GPS in the SV?
Is the NAV mode utilized to follow a FPL in the SV?
And to engage the AP together in the both modes, enter AP mode and engage both heading and Track modes? Can this be done at the same time?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Dave

It is much easier to learn a few basic functions from the instructions and learn the others after flying.
HDG mode will follow heading only, not a flight plan or anything directly from the GPS.
TRK mode will follow a track direction across the ground however the wind may change. It does use SV GPS info to do this.
NAV mode will follow a FPL in the SV, multi-leg, all turns, etc. if the NAVSRC is the SV GPS. It can be set to follow other nav sources also, another GPS or VOR if connected to the SV.
Most people have a button on the control wheel to press, hold and activate the AP, both pitch and roll. The AP can also be activated by the SV menu buttons, either pitch, roll or both. Roll can follow HDG, TRK or NAV.
In short, it will do almost anything you could reasonably want.

Thanks for the reply to e questions. I understand all that you mentioned and it was what I thought would happen and more.
I look forward to flying in real time.
