How is the autopilot supposed to behave when following a flight plan. I have a Garmin Aera 500 connected to my SkyView 10'. Yesterday I was flying in nav-mode with an active flight plan with several sequential waypoints. The autopilot tracked beautifully, but when we came to the next waypoint and a new leg the plane kept on flying straight ahead on the previous leg's course. Is this the way it should behave or should it change course after passing the waypoint to intercept the new track?

It should sequence to the next leg automatically.

Is the Aera going to the next leg? We only listen to what the GPS tells us to do, so if it doesn't sequence, we can't either.

We have an Aera at the office so we can look at this next week for you.

So we haven't been able to test the end-to-end AP performance with the Aera, but we have confirmed that it talks to SkyView, and also that it correctly sequences as you approach waypoints. Have you had the chance to try this again and notice whether the Aera was sequencing the waypoints correctly. If yes, was the AP still in NAV mode? Or had it potentially gone into TRK or HDG mode?

Thanks for following up. I haven't had the chance to test since your previous reply, but I hope to give it a try this weekend.
