I just started using the AP in my RV-6a and started out with the default settings. Surprised at how good it is working with no in-flight calibration yet. It’s holding altitude and tracking pretty good out of the box. Anyone have final calibration settings for a RV that they would like to share?

Thanks RV8JD.

I have a 180 HP RV-8. The default pitch & roll autopilot settings work well for my RV-8. Once in awhile it will hunt just a little bit in smooth air, probably because the airmass is slowly ascending or descending. Tracking works well.

I prefer to keep the max bank angle at what equates to a standard rate turn at normal instrument approach speed. That way, if the autopilot is flying a holding pattern for me, or any other flight plan that needs any significant turn it isn't messing with my senses, and does what is expected IFR.
For my RV-10 that is about 22-23 degrees. If you only fly VFR, then the 30 degrees is fine.
