Hi

I look after a sport cruiser that has the dynon two axis autopilt fitted, during one of the aircrafts trips the elevator trim was activated whilst the autopilot was selected. The pilot did not know the trim was operating because the autopilt was compensating  for it untill it could not compensate anymore, when the autopilot let go the aircraft made a very sharp climb. Please could you advise if there is any maint checks that can be carried out on the autopilot servo to confirm that no harm has been done to it.

many thanks

It's fine. The servo drives the control surface directly, and because of that the servo is designed to provide only so much torque, and will non-destructively "slip" when it can't provide enough torque to control the airplane. So there is no maintainance check necessary. You might remind the customer that there is an on-screen annunciation that tells you when the aircraft is out of trim - it even tells you which way it needs to be adjusted.
