Hello,
Would the internal gears of the servo be fully disconnected when the servo is not engaged and wouldn't the pilot feel any "system drag" ?
Due to my physical situation, my ULM has been adapted for hands control of the 3 axes, with 2 sticks. So I envisage to have an autopilot to be able to free one hand but this could not add any effort on the commands. Don't forget that you have more strength in two legs than in one arm...

Our servos use stepper motors which are always engaged. There are no clutches or "shifting" gears. This does leave some residual torque on the controls, but it makes for a much simpler servo with a lot less moving parts. It's a pretty light force that most pilots say you can't detect at all once you are flying.
