Azimuth control for autopilot?

If the next generation EFIS does not have a moving map GPS, where does the azimuth control for the autopilot originate? Which of the current crop of non-panel mount GPS units will you support?

I ass-u-me that the static pressure input for the autopilot is internal to the autopilot control box.

The next generation system most definitely will have a moving map, so all of the autopilot control will come from itself. Even with today's system, the autopilot can fly heading (azimuth) and altitude without any external GPS moving map connection. The next generation will retain all of those capabilities, and be able to fly itself to waypoints based on its own moving map.

But if you use an external GPS, we can fly that as well (current gen or next-gen). Anything Garmin will work, and Lowrance and AvMap also generally work. Anything that outputs a NMEA-0813 or Aviation format serial stream is good.
