Unfortunately, I’ve not been flying for almost a year and while the ships battery is fine as I have a charger on it, the back up battery is low.
Is there anyway to charge the back up battery with a charger?

You can do this by connecting the charger to the ships battery and then running the Dynon. In most cases, under normal conditions when an external charger is connected the supply voltage for the Dynon is high enough, to allow the Dynon to control the charge to the backup battery. There is no need to have any radios, GPS or transponder etc. instruments powered (this reduces the current draw). You can check on the Dynon whether it reports that it is charging the backup battery and what the current reported voltage for the backup battery is

One other tip, if you have 2 Skyview displays, charge each display (and its respective backup battery) separately. Some chargers have a hard time charging both backup batteries simultaneously. But those chargers can handle single systems much more efficiently.
Charge status of the backup battery can be monitored by each Skyview from the settings feature (press buttons 7&8 together). What's more, before initiating the annual Backup battery test (you will be prompted for that), makes sure each b/u battery is fully "charged." See Skyview Installation Guide for more info.
