I have a Dynon Skyview 10" (2014).

I drained my back-up battery to zero.

Is the only solution to replace it or is there a way to trickle charge it?

Thanks

:)

If you run the screen at above 12.25V it will charge the battery. This means you need a charger on your aircraft system as a standard airplane battery is below 12V when not being charged.

Thank you. So how long must the screen be on? It doesn’t seem to charge in flight as well.

It should charge in flight. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge, but should be usable in just a few minutes.

What software version are you running? Newer versions do a better job at recovering a completely dead battery.

There's an error that says the battery isn't detected. Does that mean it's at zero or that it's somehow disconnected?

Thank you.

The system can't tell the difference between a completely discharged battery and a disconnected one. However, the system should recover a discharged one out of this state in just a few minutes.

As asked before, what SW version are you on? If you're on an older one, try upgrading. If on a newer one, your battery may have failed permanently. Might be worth a call to discuss with us.

Running version 12. something. LOL.
Will update. See how it goes.
Will report back next weekend.
If not, probably time to get a new battery.
Thank you.
