What is the expected life of a Skyview backup battery? Ii have a dual screen system with two backups, one has failed after two minutes on test, the other is ok. The system is factory installed (FD) two years old, 600 hours flight time. The aircraft is operated in Thailand so subject to high temperatures and high humidity. The Powersafe main batteries have a life of two to three years in these conditions. Any comments?

We have been selling backup batteries in our EFIS systems for over 10 years now, and many of those first batteries are going fine. We'd generically expect at least a 5 year lifetime on the batteries, and we warranty them for 3 years. They are tested in rough environments, so I doubt the temperature or humidity is the issue.

We did have some batteries that had a manufacturing defect. Send us an email at support at dynonavionics and we can check and see if you have one of those batteries.
