What features are available on the Skyview map after the trial period expires if the license is not purchased? Is anything there or does it simply not come up at all? If anything is there (airspace or airports for example), can it be updated?

Good question. From the Installation Manual pp 6-1:

After the 30 flight hour free trial period expires, the MAP menu and all navigation and mapping features will not be available until a Navigation Mapping Software license is activated.

Does that mean the MAP page is not available or just the DTO, nearest and flight planning are missing? The map is still pretty handy without the nav and obstacles.

All you can see on the map without the license is the terrain. No airports, airspaces, VOR's, etc show up. Future updates that show things like borders, roads, and cities will also not appear.

The easiest way to think of it is that if it comes from a database that is not terrain, it will not be displayed.
