Basis of pin recommendation with ems 220

Hello Dynon Support, the latest skyview install guide includes 'recommended' pin outs for several sensors including oil pressure (6), oil temp (7), fuel pressure (8), and fuel level (20 & 21). This guidance was not provided previously when I terminated wiring and I have used different pins.

What is the basis of the recommended pinouts?

Also, I have not calibrated my fuel level sensors but the raw readings reported are dramatically different even though they are both providing a very similar resistance. Is there a problem?

Hi Stephen,
I have also done the same as you ( used different pins ) and look forward to what Dynon has to say about it. I dont see it being a problem, we just need to keep track of what pins we have used for what device.

The recommended pinouts are just the ones from the old EMS, so that conversions can be done easily. The first install guide didn't give any recommendation, and people asked that we at least give some guidance. If you used something else, that's fine.

If you have two resistors of the same value, they should give the same raw reading. What pins are you using for the two fuel levels?

Re: tank level raw values

thanks for confirming that the raw values should be the same prior to calibration...

i am using pins 9 and 10, general purpose inputs 5 and 6, although i had originally planned to pick pins 10 and 11...  i need to ensure that i have mapped them both correctly.  what sort of raw value should i expect to see for an empty tank (240 ohm)?

You should see about 2229 "raw" and and 2.72V CAL(V) with 240 ohms and a resistive config.

got it, thanks. i have reference ground wires to each tank level sensor in case the proseal prevents a good ground (it turns out that this was not an issue and the sensors get a good ground from the mounting hardware)... in one wing i have a flop tube and the level sensor is not directly visible and i ended up connecting the ground wire to the sensor so it displayed a value of nearly 0. all corrected now.
