I am planning my SV-BAT-320 installation, and cannot find any mounting criteria beyond the footprint published in the installation manual. My question is can the battery be mounted vertically, or does it need to sit on a shelf?

It's not a wet cell, so Like any other electronic battery you can mount it in any attitude/orientation you want. Just keep it away from any heat or vibration source, o yes, and the compass.

I'm actually more concerned with the structural consideration. The plastic ears that are bolted to the mounting structure doesn't look like they are going to withstand some of my hard landings :)
It looks like it 's designed to sit on a shelf, not be supported by the ears. What say you, oh Dynon Guru?

I see your point. I do believe that if your ELT goes off on every landing then it is a consideration. Other than that don't over torque the bolts on the mounting tabs/pads.

But we'll see what Dynon will say. http://dynonavionics.com/public_html/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/wink.gif

Enjoy

The battery doesn't weigh that much and the tabs are nice and solid. Make sure you have a reasonable head on your fastener or a good sized washer and you'll be fine with it in any orientation.
