Just installed a HS34 .  Have a 10A and EMS -120 .  Both were hooked up to a SL30 (serial 10A) and GNC 300XL (serial EMS 120) per instructions and worked great.

Recently installed HS 34, all radios connected through HS 34 (SL 30 serial 2, 300XL ARINC 1) and got rid of previous connections. All boxes updated to 5.5 software.

Can changed the course on  both units with the HS 34 and NavSrc works fine.  Am missing the RMI indicator and the two bearing indicators I previously had.  Any thoughts on where to look for a problem?
Thanks

I'd check both the serial port and ARINC settings for the HS34, and also the physical connections between the HS34 and the nav radio and GPS. On the top of the HSI page, when you're on GPS, does it say "waiting for GPS fix" (or something very similar?). That can imply that the HS34 isn't actually seeing the GPS at all.

After you updated (which should have included the HS34 separately via the support program), did you do do a DSAB network configuration? It shouldn't be necessary, but it can fix configuration gremlins, especially across updates.

This turned out to be operator error. I have a 10A and EMS-120. I leave the 10A on attitude indicator and put the HSI on the EMS-120 screen. I am able to scroll through nav sources in this configuration, contrary to a note on page 6-10 of the pilots guide. However, I must have the HSI displayed on the 10A in order to change the bearing sources. Look forward to flying with it.
