Hello,

during my last flight I wondered about he black part of the oil-temperature-indicator. What is the meaning of this area? Until now I only knew the red, yellow and green area. I took the picture 8 Minutes after the start. The minimum oil-temperature on the ground is 50 °C.

Happy landings
Stefan

if you have a Rotax, this is presumably because it's tied to the tachometer readings. The tachometer readings are different when the oil temp is above or below 120 degrees, and the oil temp readings are different when the oil temp is above or below 190 degrees. See pages 5-4 and 5-5 of the install manual. I can't find anything similar in the manual for other engine types, so this may or may not be limited to Rotax engines.
