On boot up my display shows a bunch of line items and text... I have seen posts of others' installs that show and HDX logo on boot. Is this a setting that can be changed? or do others have the wall of text in what looks like console window on boot?

The splash screen is loaded into the BIOS by the configuration file install, and sometimes changes according to your particular software installation. OEM software packages, like those from Van's, sometimes have their own custom splash screen. Being a certified installation, you may not be able to change it, but you could always ask Dynon.

There have been different exact splash screens over time with various versions of hardware too. And by splash screen I mean the first thing you see, with SkyView or DYNON or FLYDYNON branding (depending on the device and time).

But I think you might be talking about the screen that comes up juuust before SkyView fully boots? If so, that's normal.
