Can I do a straight swap SV for D180?

I have been thinking of upgrading but the more I read the more uncertain I become.

I have an Flight dek D180 with AP 74 and roll servo (planning on installing the pitch servo over Xmas break) with external compass.

I have the jabiru 3300 engine hooked up with 6 CHTs and the EGTs.

Can I just pull out the D 180 and plug in a SkyView?

Some threads seem to be saying I can't use the AP 74. Is this right or have I got it wrong?

Does the Skyview have a split screen like the D 180 so I can have my engine info on the screen as well as the sky view screen?

Thanks

OK I found the video on the skyview so I have the answers for the last question. But the first one still eludes me.

Can I just plug it into the slot I have for the D 180 and plug the looms in, or have I got a lot of rewiring to do?

And then...
What is the correct story of the AP 74 I have in the dash. Can I use it or do I have to pull it out and if so do I have to utilize the A/P though the main screen?

The EMS harness (CGTs/EGTs) will plug into the EMS module, which may be separate from the EFIS. The others may not be 100% pin-compatible, but re-work should be minimal.

The AP 74 is superfluous, as Skyview has knobs and a joystick. However, the first release of Skyview will not have Autopilot software so you might want to hold off.

That's as much as I know, Dynon can fill in the rest.

Right, the displays wire in differently than the D180. But the engine monitor module will accept the same two engine harnesses. You will need to re-purpose the EFIS harness on the D180, but many of the wires will be reassigned to the SkyView harness that comes with the display. They are also slightly different physically, so you will have to take that into account. Take a look at the SkyView mechanical drawings for more info.

SkyView does not use the AP74 or anything like it. All that functionality will be built in to the display. The autopilot will not be available in December for SkyView, but we will be adding it. Sounds like if you wait for the autopilot to be added, you can replace everything you have today pretty easily. Not sure when the autopilot will be released, but we don't think it will be too bad, months not years.

I currently have a D-100 and a D-120. Should I someday wish to upgrade, I have two questions:

1) Is the electrical connection to the SV the same as that of the D-100?

2) If not, would it be possible for Dynon to make a plug-in connector that would mate the SV to the existing D-100 plug?

The plug is not compatible.

The only things re-used on a the D100 would be power, audio, and maybe one serial port. Since we don't have DSAB on the connector, or a remote compass, there isn't much to re-use. Plus, we use more power so the D100 harness isn't totally sufficient in that area.

There really isn't much to re-wire. Hook up power and ground, run a wire to your GPS, and then run the pre-made harnesses out to the modules. Our beta testers have retrofitted the SkyView over a D100 in just a few hours.

OK, thanks. I knew that you guys would figure a way to upgrade without it being too big a headache. :)

Is the compass built into the box?
How do you compensate for all the other electrical/magnetic field generators in the dash?

The ADAHRS in SkyView is both a attitude sensor and a magnetic sensor. But it's remote. It's not in the screen. It's a box like the current remote compass. It goes somewhere in the plane not near interference.
