We've had many questions about whether the OAT probe for the EFIS-D10A can be shortened. The answer is, yes it can. It cannot be lengthened due to the type of sensor utilized in the probe. It is unable to drive longer runs of wire.

When you say OAT probe, does this mean the wiring harness to the OAT probe? I was about to call and ask the same question! Righ now the probe is located approximately 3 feet from the remote compass. I have all this wire in a big coil laying in the tail!

Yes, we mean the wires leading from the OAT probe that are permanently connected on he OAT side. You can shorten these wires as needed, but do not extend them beyond the 10 feet that we supply.

We wouldn't suggest you shorten the nice, machined aluminium probe itself. There's sensitive stuff in there :)
