Just tried to update my firmware after installing the unit in my panel (it took a LONG time and a lot of wrestling) and am getting the message "Unable to communicate with chip # 6". What the heck ????? Unit is a DEK D-180, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, we'll probably need to see your unit here if you're not able to get the firmware update to take. Give support a call at 425-402-0433 or at support at dynonavionics dot com.

Sure it is a pain to have to send your unit in but it happens sometimes. I had to box up my entire system and send it back....

The D180 is super easy to get out of a finished panel....
