I have the carb temp sensor connected to GP input #2. Why is there no red/yellow ribbon on the temp guage? I see only green/yellow and yellow/green. Also, is there anyway to get an alarm on this input if the temp gets close to freezing in the carb throat sensor area?

When designing this, we didn't think anyone would consider a cold carb temp to be an alarm situation, so we don't support a red band in the middle of the range. We only support green on each end with yellow in the middle. There is no alarm possible on this input.

On the new Heated PITOT you have a WARNING lite if the pitot is not functioning. Wouldn't a carb ice Warning be similar? Is it something you would consider in future software updates? Carb ice can bring a plane of of the air............a heated pitot not working may result in no airspeed reading............but the plane still flies.

Hopefully adding the RED zone tape to the Carb sensor guage and a flashing red alert is in the future for us dinosaurs still running O-540's! ;)

Thanks,

We know when the pitot has failed, but cold temperatures do not mean carb ice for sure. It just means they can occur at those temps. The vast majority of the time we throw an alarm for carb ice, you won't have it. The FAA requires a light for pitots in certified craft, but doesn't require an alarm for carb temp, which tells you something.

We do have a warning light for carb ice: When in the yellow, the temp indicator turns black on a yellow background, making it clear at a glance that something is out of whack.

In any case, we'll add the request for an alarm to our list.
