Hi,
I am installing a D100 coupled with an HS34 (and an AP74 in few weeks) and in the other side a GPS Garmin 496 already coupled with a PCAS Zaon XRX.

1- I don't know how to connect the wiring in that case to connect the 496 to the HS34 without loosing the traffic information (using the TIS capability of this GPS) on the screen of the 496.
2- How to connect several audio inputs on my softcomm intercom?
3- which settings do I have to set in that case on my 496?

Thank you.

You will connect the Zaon's output to the 496's input.

You will connect the 496's output to one of the HS34's inputs

You will set the 496 to "TIS IN/NMEA & VHF OUT", 9600 Baud, Speed Normal

You will set the HS34's serial port that you connected the 496 to "NMEA" and "9600 baud"

If you are going to use a SL30/40 radio, you can also connect its input to the HS34 output and get the frequency passthru feature.

Thanks a lot for this response. I will try this.
Yes, I will install also an SL30 but later (due to the price). I will prepare its integration in the wiring.

For the the audio inputs (HS34, 496) in the intercom (softcomm), do I have only to tie them together, or do I need to insert a more technical electronic device between?

I see that you have a MCR 01 Sporster, that's a two place aircraft right? You didn't mention what Softcomm you had but, if you're lucky you might have a 4 or 6 place Softcomm intercom. If so you can simply wire the audio output from the 496 and HS34 to the unused inputs (passenger microphone inputs) in the intercom. You don't have to actually use the jacks, just wire the output to the input.  If it's a stereo intercom, the Softcomm site seems to imply that it may have an extra input for entertainment sources.

If you haven't installed the intercom yet and don't have a 4 or 6 place intercom, it would be a good time to trade it for one. The difference between a 2 place and a 6 place in US dollars is only about $20.00. The 4 place would give you an input for the HS34 and one for the 496, a 6 place would give you two more so you could use one for the ZAON XRX audio and another for an Aux input (MP3 or the like), all can be controlled by switches for muting.

Someone may come along with a more elegant solution (GMA240 would do nicely), however this one may work for you.

You're right, it's a two place aircraft.
I have to check if I have a 2 place Softcomm, but I think so.
In the case it's a 4 or 6 place one, it will be easy and I will install some mute switches as you write.

Just going through this myself.  Got some advice from Vern at Vx-Aviation, put together what I learned on the Wiki here.  Example given is for a Stereo intercom using the music input port - you can easily adapt it for mono.

I also found out that the music input port on the intercom is much more sensitive than the radio input port.  The HS34 volume was quite low when I wired it into the radio input port (even when no radio was attached), which is why I moved it to the music input port.  For me, it was not so important that some audio alert might get muted due to incoming radio transmissions - in my opinion, the alerts are nice but the radio is more important.  Others may disagree.
