Clarification needed for GPS - D180

Greetings,

I am unsure how to connect my GPS output.  I am attaching a pdf that shows the Garmin connector cord connected to an ICOM comm radio.

In a previous post you said it was okay to parallel the output to the ICOM. That is good. However, where do I connect the pins?  I see that the "Data Out" would go to  EMS pin 19, but what about the "Data In"?

I'm looking at page 4-6 in the D180 manual.  I am in the category "If You Only Own a FlightDek D180".   What is an SL30?

Thanks for your help.  This is a great customer service.

Sam

An SL30 is a Garmin nav/com.

If you just have a Garmin GPS, we only need to receive data from it. So the Dynon only receives data from the Garmin's data ouput.

So, the return is through ship's ground? The same ground used in the GPS power plug?
