Classic Skyview- can I add?

Hi guys- I just bought a Kitfox with a classic Skyview system SVD-1000, my question is can I buy a newer 10 inch screen to run as primary display and move the older one to backup/engine management? Also I have the Dynon radio and transponder, I would like to update to ADS-B in and out and also add autopilot. Please advise and thank you- Scott

From the latest Skyview System Installation Guide, rev AH:

"SkyView units cannot / should not be mixed

For planning your SkyView system, or upgrades, Dynon Avionics recommends planning / budgeting for installing the same “family” of SkyView displays, not to “mix” displays from different SkyView families.

SkyView SE displays cannot interoperate in a SkyView system that includes SkyView Classic or SkyView HDX displays.

SkyView HDX product line will eventually add features and products that are not compatible with SkyView Classic. A future version of SkyView Software will remove the ability to interoperate between SkyView Classic and SkyView HDX.

For planning your panel for the first time, or planning to upgrade displays, the displays should be “all SkyView Classic” or “all SkyView HDX” displays."

You can add a "new to you" classic display and move the "old" classic display to the other side. As noted you can't mix unit types, like a classic display and an HDX display.

Thanks guys for the response. Makes sense, just cant have touchscreen, but Ipad makes up most of my stuff anyways.

Yes, you can have a touch display with your D1000. Howeve,r it will need to be a D1000T, not and HDX. At times you can find a D1000T for sale from a person that is moving to HDX.
