My Clock resets to 1200 when the engine is turned off.  Why does it do this?  Isnt there a battery back up?  It was new less than a year ago.

My compass needs to be re calibrated often (doing the fly in four directions manuever).  Why?

Are these issues related?

Re: Clock and Compass has to be to recalibrated D1

The clock needs the internal battery option or keep alive hooked up. Do you know if you ordered the internal battery, or if you hooked keep alive up to your aircraft battery when you installed?

If your compass needs recalibration a lot, it's probably in a location where it is too near to something ferrous. The compass calibration is stored in memory that does not reset when power is lost, so that's not it.
