Config transfers

I fly an RV-12 and am going to ferry another RV-12. Both have SV. What happens if I load my dfg and sfg files onto the second airplane for the flight? Will it reset stuff like Hobbs, N-number, transponder codes etc?

I want my screen layout and my autopilot settings primarily.

There are all sorts of things in there like the tail number, operational time, total flight time, etc. Probably not a good thing to replace the entire file. You can load just parts of the file. For sure make a backup before you replace any of it.

Yes, you'll change things you don't want to if you load one aircraft's config file on another. Almost everything (but not everything) will transfer if you just use one aircraft's config file on another aircraft, including calibrations. Essentially, you don't want to do it. (Hobbs and tach don't import, for example, even though they're in the .dfg, so that more routine settings recovery from mistakes or other issues don't obliterate your existing engine times). You can excerpt any part of the configuration files, though, and that's the way to go to transfer only things you want to.
