Connections for NG EFIS

Hi there,

I have been informed that my plane (a Sinus) is to enter production in the coming days and that it will be delivered this December! I have already finalized the panel layout so that hopefully I can use the 7 inch version or your NG EFIS, pending of course that the final dimensions will fit.

I would like to have the factory prepare the connections for the hardware (i.e. power, feed from the pitot, etc...) so that the only remaining task is to cut the panel whenever I finally am able to purchase the unit from you.

Can you please give me some guidance on what I should request from them? Would it suffice to say that they should prepare connections just like if I was going to install a D100 model later on, or do you envisage using different connectors (and if so, is there a standard I should be communicating to them)?

Cheers,

Alan

Hi Alan,

Unfortunately, we don't yet have that level of data available. In general, though, the EMS sensor wiring will be more or less the same, and the same probes will be supported, though the harnesses will connect to an external EMS module instead of directly to the screen. The main EFIS wiring will be a bit different than it exists today, since some of the wires that are currently on the main unit will end up at the remote3 ADAHRS module instead. There will be redundant power and DSAB connections to the screens and different devices. That also also differs from how things work today.

As we get closer and have things like pinouts and dimensions finalized, we'll publish more data on this front.

We definitely won't have a product on the market by December though, in case you were hoping to take delivery with the airplane.

Chances are high that the HS34 will not be used in the next system.

Understood that the HS34 will not likely be used.

However, the question was what would happen to all the incoming device leads (GPS, NAV, etc.) connected to the HS34.

Will we be able to simply move the connector to the new system, or will it have to be re-wired? ...and I am guessing re-wired...

Thanks

:)

So then will the AP 74/76 be used by the new system or will that also change?

The HS 34 seemed like a nice external interface for controlling the various nav sources. Will there likely be a replacement or just internal control?

We don't 100% know how things like the HS34, AP74, and AP76 will exist in the next system.

The next system has more buttons, and two knob/joystick units, so we can do a lot of things in there without needing an external box.

If nothing else, you'd probably need to trade the units for different ones, since the new system uses a better DSAB system, has a different look, and we can probably make all the units a lot smaller. Good chance the HS34 will just exist as a hidden ARINC converter as well.

Overall, way to early to be totally sure about anything in terms of the remote units. I can say that we are designing everything so they will not be required to get any functions. We'd really prefer you use the extra panel space for a 10" unit ;)

As an FYI, the AP servos are 100% compatible with the new system, so they will not need to swap out. Just make sure you run all 7 wires from the servo instead of just 5 (the extra wires are for the redundant DSAB system)
