Contact connections in dual screen installations

If the contact inputs are used in later updates will they need to be connected in parallel in dual screen installations like the GPS or Serial Ports?  If they will be connected, will it cause any issues if it is done now?

Because the contact inputs aren't supported in firmware yet, we don't have any guidance available for connecting them.
