Converting cable from DB9 Serial I/O to USB or HDMI

I used to use a laptop that had the DB9 Serial I/O male input. I've been using a notebook for several years now and would like to update my lists. It does NOT have the DB9 input. Is there a cable available that will convert the DB9 to USB or HDMI?
