I know the Dynon units do not draw much power. I am starting the panel build and wanted to know if there are requirements for cooling of the units. My Garmin 530 has a 1 inch port on the back for cooling air and it needs it as the unit (especially the screen) generates a great deal of heat.

They don't need any active cooling, and in fact we prefer that you don't have air blasting on them because it makes the temperature less stable, which makes the calibration of the sensors less accurate.

It is important that you don't have a completely sealed off area behind the panel however. Sometimes we get a customer calling and telling us that the unit is reporting that it's too hot, and it turns out they have no way for hot air to get out from behind the panel, and it's 160 degrees behind the panel, and ALL of their avionics are cooking. A little vent hole or some air leakage near the top of the rear panel area goes a long way.
