I was looking at my D-10A trying to understand why my altitude/barometric pressure did not match my altimeter, when the unit shut off and left me with a black screen. I at first thought that I had blown a fuse, but then I remembered that the battery would keep it going in that instance. I checked the fuse anyway and it was fine.

I stopped everything when this happened. Except turning the master off and back on to see if it would boot. It didn't.

Any ideas on what could cause this and what I should do to resolve it?

On the issue of the barometric pressure...If I set the altimeter and the Dynon on the field elevation, they differ by between .5 and one inch of barometric pressure in the Kollsman window. The Dynon reads lower in barometric pressure. Other pressure readings seem to back up the altimeter. I think the Dynon was in error before it gave it up.

Thanks,

Well, if it's off and just won't come back on, there's not much we can do besides have you mail it back here. Before you do that, the only thing I can suggest is to pull all the power to it- all external power, and the internal battery. The battery door comes off the back and the plug for the battery is right there. Unplug it, then plug it back in and see if this brings it alive. I doubt it will though.

As for the kollsman setting being off, we do have an alt adjust in the menu that lets you set the altimeter to another reference if you wish. We never expect this to be adjusted more than about 50 feet, but we do allow for up to 500 feet. 0.5" is about 500 feet, so that's way off, but maybe the setting in here was way off.

See if you can get it on, and if not, give us a call. We'll get it fixed and re-calibrated, and when you get it back you can check and see if it still has the same difference to your other references.
