D-180 Ser #1234 v.1.2.0
Access to the back of my homebuilt must wait until spring (very small shop). Thus no magnetometer yet. Tried to update the firmware without the magnetometer installed to fix the backup battery issue with v.1.2.0. Seemed to go ok until the end. Program claimed the D-180 had been disconnected (it hadn't). Said to reload. Now program couldn't find the D-180, once said illegible data, then no go. Now what?

I will be going to Seattle next Friday. Should I just bring in my D-180 and magnetometer and have the firmware reloaded into both?

Now comes the weird part. After a day or so on an external power supply the unit turns on without the former battery charging problem, seems to operate normally and says it is running version 5.2.0.

Is there any sort of checksum test to validate v5.2.0 is completely and properly installed?

If it says 5.2 under version, it's fine. If you really want to check it again, the only way to do it is to re-load it. This isn't like a normal computer with files and such, it's one big program and it either works or doesn't.
