I have not ordered yet but have a question on the 180 that maybe answered in the manual or somewhere. Is there a way to store or back up on a laptop, the set up parameters so that if for what ever reason they get lost one can just load a file back into the unit?

Yes, you can definitely back up your settings. Our product manuals don't really discuss this, but the help file for the Dynon Product Support program does. You can download the program here.

Basically, after you select the product type you're using -- in your case FlightDEK-D180 --you choose "Create Settings Backup" from the Action menu. That will lead you to some prompts that allow you to choose what kind of backup you want to perform.
