D1 Setup in a Taildragger

Howdy folks - I just took possession of a new D1 that I ordered from Spruce.

I'm excited to add it somewhere on the dash of my Rans S-6S........Taildragger.

I hadn't considered the "Taildragger" factor when ordering the D1.

Can anyone suggest how to set it up and calibrate it while I'm on the ground? If I hard-mount it to the dash, the tail is pointed into the dirt........but once I get the tail up in flight.........

How and where should I do the calibration?

The calibration is to adjust the D2 to display 0 pitch and 0 roll when the plane is straight and level. Can you temporarily prop up the tail and do the D1's calibration?

A couple more thoughts: If you know the nose-up attitude on the ground, just set it to that while on the ground and then after you're established in straight/level flight, make another adjustment to really dial it in. You can also just leave the setting alone entirely until you're in-flight and then fidget with it then. Obviously neither of those make sense if you're taking of immediately into IFR, in which case I'd do a VFR flight to learn the setting (assuming your mount is either fixed or will be left attached between flights)
