D10 Compass heading error

On a recent flight, my D10 with remote compass began swinging from my course of 310 to showing a heading of 260. For about 15 minutes it would vary between the two, then settled on the 260 course reading. It had been very accurate and reliable until now. I checked if I had lost the remote compass by passing my headphone magnet near the EFIS, but the 250 reading was solid. What problems should I look for? Will recalibrating correct this?

You may try to recalibrating your compass again and see if that gives you any positive results.

Have you made any recent changes to your airframe or the mounting of the compass that may have caused this?

Let us know if the recalibration doesn't help.

If it's an EFIS-D10, not an EFIS-D10A, an intermittent connection to the EDC-D10 could cause this as the EFIS goes back and forth between the internal and EDC sensors. If you have the EFIS-D10A, you would see a "remote compass not detected message".
