I am going to fit a D100 and D120 to a new aircraft and will set connect the SL30 to the D100 and the 296 gps to the D120 does this mean I will need to fit some type of switch to allow connection to a computer for updates.

Thanks in advance

You won't need a switch.

The EMS-D120 input is a completely different serial port than the PC update port, so there's no conflict there.

The EFIS-D100 serial input is the same one used by the PC for updates, but now that our products no longer need their PC serial ports connected together to talk to each other (that communication is now handled exclusively over the DSAB bus), all you would need to do to hook the SL30 up would be to hook the single SL30 serial output wire to the correct pin on a fresh 9 pin connector. Then just hook that up to the EFIS-D100's 9 pin connector. When you need to update the firmware on the EFIS-D100, just pull off the SL30, and hook up the PC.

Thanks
but will this not disconnect the remote compass which i though had to be connected during updates.
I take it I will also have to do the same for the d120 I will be fitting. Am I right that these need to be updated separately, you cant update them together via DSAB

Thanks

The remote compass's 9 pin connector is entirely separate from both the PC connection and any serial connection. It has its own dedicated harness and connector.

I'm sorry to be so dim but the back of my D100 only has one connector I just dont see how I can do what you say if all the connections go into one plug.

You run wires out of this D25 connector that go a variety of places- Power, EDC, serial port

You leave the connector on the back of the D100 all the time. Coming off this connector is a D9 connector that is a serial port for PC updates. Also coming off this harness is a D9 for the EDC. You leave the EDC and D100 connected together all the time, you plug in to the D9 for the PC and do the update there.

Did you buy a pre-made harness or are you making your own?

OK I think I am starting to get it and I just have to disconnect the SL30 when I do it
The Dynon dealer APS in the UK is making me a harness for the 100 and I am getting a stock one for the 120 via him as well
