I have my D100 tied to an SL30. I flew the LOC BC 4 at KTXK today, and I was getting reverse sensing on my D100. I thought the HSI on the D100 would not "reverse sense". What am I missing here?

There's a few different ways of flying a back course with an HSI. A few questions:

Which course did you have entered in the HSI? The direction you were landing, or the direction of the localizer?

Did you enable back course on the SL-30 (page 16 of the manual)?

I had the direction I was landing entered in the HSI. I did not enable the BC on the SL30.

When doing a back course with an HSI, you have to put the LOC course in as the course, not the direction you are landing. This causes the HSI to be "upside down" and automatically reverses the sensing for you.

The other way is to put the runway course in, but then tell the SL-30 to be in backcourse, in which case it just reverses its outputs.
