I had various problems including course arrow defaulting to 360 and winds aloft totally inacurarate (30kt winds in still-wind conditions).

Avmap software 2.14.162R download from
http://www.avmap.it/index.php?swt=0309&rel=1&sec=1&ipr=4&pg=1 (there is a also a newer release 26 March 2.14.175R)
In COMMUNICATIONS, set the NMEA to PROCESSED and check the boxes RMC, RMB and APB. Baud 4800
The winds aflot were gaving false readings. Then the Dynon DI suddenly started showing 15 degrees off for no reason which messed up the GPS info on the Dynon DI.
I recalibrated the compass and everything is working fine again with the above settings.
2 other points. Some people have suggested in earlier posts moving the Avmap antenna to a different location and that gave them good results, either further from the engine or giving a better view.
Also, a quick and simple method to swing the aircraft compass and calibrate the Dynon compass is to use a known good army-style lensatic compass. Set the prop vertical and rudder straight, stand 15 yards behind the plane and line up the hairline with prop and rudder. This gave pretty accurate results.
Don't forget to set the mag inclination and intensity before calibration - instuctions at

Recalibrate the compass even if it appears to be ok. I think even a relatively small error send the winds aloft readings way off. If the above does not work, move the antenna as afar as possible from engine and electrics.
