D100 - Black screen - question on firmware

During a flight, our D100 screen came black. We had t reset it (power off/on with the fuse) to restart it. At the restart, it was black and white and red. Then it was ok. Did you experience this before ?

Our firmware is 4.0.0. Is it worthwhile to upgrade it to the latest firmwire release ? (we don't have autopilot, only D100 + AVMAP connected).

Many thanks

We always recommend running the latest firmware. Although what you're seeing isn't expected or normal, things like power transients could possibly cause the display to reset. Do you have a backup battery installed? I'd suggest seeing if it's an isolated incident, but if it happens again, we'll want to investigate with you further.

We have a backup battery installed. It was indeed the first incident we had. We will keep an eye.
I will follow your recommendation for the firmware. Many thanks for your very fast reply and support.

My D-100 was working yesterday morning.  I shut it down correctly and when I went flying again yesterday afternoon I could not get the unit to power up with either external power or internal battery power.  What can I do?

Try rvator51's suggestion, and if still nothing, give our support team a call at 425-402-0433 or an email at support at dynonavionics dot com and they can help you further.

Remove the internal battery and see if it will power up without it installed?

Neither works. The following are the symptoms...

1. There is power to Pin 1
2. The battery is fully charged (>12V)
3. When installed in the aircraft, the D100 does not boot up whether the battery is installed or not.
4. When the the D100 is removed from the aircraft, it does not boot up.
5. When the ON button is pushed, the screen flashes white then turns black and does not progress any further.

Is is possible that the firmware has been corrupted and is it possible to restore the firmware without the unit being functional?

The reason I wish to explore all the options first is that I live in Australia and I want to avoid having to send the unit to the US if I can help it.

Did you try disconnecting the internal battery? If you did, plus all of the above, then it sounds like you might have a failure that unfortunately you won't be able to fix in the field.

Yes, i have tried all of the above. The battery has been disconnected (with the D100) out of the aircraft and when reconnected still does not boot up. The only thing I haven't done is try to see if the RS232 is alive with the unit out of the machine. If this fails then I have no option but to send it back.

Even if RS-232 is coming alive, we probably need to see your unit to fix it, unfortunately.
