Hi,
I am using the EFIS-D100 for 1 year and it is working very nicely on my MCR 01 UL (I bought it new). I was pleased to read a few weeks ago it was possible to update the software. I have no idea with electricity and electronics, I took out the D100 to my office (I did not build the aircraft and did not install the D100) could you ligthen me a little bit on the following questions:
-where to find the cable to connect D100 to my PC
-the D100 needs external power then how to supply power to it?
-is there any diagram showing how to build such cable to be able in the same time to connect D100 to PC and supplying power

I am sorry for these basic questions coming from me

Regards

Bob

First, you'll need a 9 pin serial connection between our product and your laptop PC. If our harness was used for installation, there should be 9 pin serial connector hiding under your panel that you can attach a normal 9 pin extension cable to. If not, wiring connections can be If your laptop does not have a 9 pin serial port, you'll further need a USB-serial converter to bridge that connection. We sell one for $20, but you can get them at most computer stores locally.

You want to perform updates with the instrument in the aircraft, since the EDC-D10A remote compass also has firmware in it that gets updated during the firmware update process. So the D100 can be powered by ship's power like it normally is for updates. Otherwise, power and ground connections are specified in our installation manuals, which are available here.

The software you'll need to actually do the update is our Support Program, which is available here. It contains the latest firmware update for all of our products. Help for using the Support Program is built right into it (there's a big "help" button)
