I've a D100/D120 with HS34, Trutrak V385 AutoPilot and Garmin 420W, Both connected via ARINC 429. I've also a GPS 286 connected to the HS34 Via Serial. Right now all seems good on the ground, The HS34 is showing both GPS sources With NAVSRC as well as BRGSRC appropriately on the HSI, and the Autopilot is showing GPS Steering data as expected. But at least while on the Ground, The COURSE Knob has no effect on the Course/CDI Display of the HSI. I was expecting the Course/CDI to move in relation to the Directional Gyro based on Course Knob inputs.

Below are my current HS34 HSI and Garmin ARINC 429 Settings. I have NO Error Messages on either the Dynon or the Garmin 420W. I'm assuming the 420W supports Course Adjustments via the ARINC 429, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

HS 34 ARINC Settings:
INPUT1: GAMA GPS
INPUT2: NONE
SPEED: LOW

OUTPUT:
OUTPUT DATA: ON
OUTPUT SPEED: HIGH

MAIN ARINC 429 CONFIG
IN/OUT SPEED DATA
IN 1 HIGH OFF
IN 2 HIGH OFF
OUT LOW GAMA 429

SDI COMMON
VNAV ENABLE LABELS

When on a GPS flight plan, the course is authoritatively by the GPS flight plan / course line. I believe that on some models and modes, pressing the OBS button suspends GPS guidance and lets you do a sort of "virtual vor" mode that will then allow the GPS course to be spun. Caveat - we're not experts in that mode; not sure of its ins and outs.

Thanks very much, I actually just found a video supporting just what you postulated. Once you’ve set the new desired course with the HS34 Course Knob, you can then “exit” the 420 OBS Mode. The new course and appropriate CDI is now displayed on the D100 HSI. I was able to confirm this morning with my new setup. Thanks Again.
