D1000T inop, striped screen - HDX upgrade

I have a D1000 touch. For the past couple months it has booted with a screen just showing random colored stripes before showing the SkyView logo. Lately it has not been able to boot at all. 1+2+5 resets the unit (screen goes black for a sec) but to the same ultimate result. It's not just the display that's broken because I am not hearing the boot audio either.

The unit was installed in 2016 so likely out of warranty. Waiting to hear back from Dynon about possibly repairing it, but I don't have my hopes up.

Unfortunately I don't know of any D1000T's for sale anywhere so I think I need to upgrade to the HDX or lose touch capability with a Classic. I am thinking of just upgrading to the HDX.

A few questions for the forum (also asked Dynon Support):

1. I have backups of the D1000T configuration. Can I apply these backups to a new HDX installation? Or would I have to enter everything manually?

2. Any hints on extracting these six hex bolts out? I got two out, but the rest are stripped.

3. If/When I’m able to remove this D1000T from my panel, are there some bench top diagnostics that I can perform at home? Or should I just write it off and get a new unit?

That is the "Rainbow Screen of Death" (RSOD). It can be fixed, but has to be sent back to Dynon for repair. Since you live in Seattle you can drop the unit off at Dynon in Woodinville and pick it up when it's fixed. May save some flow time.

See these threads:

Contact Support for an RMA. Probably will be charged the flat rate repair cost of $450. Hopefully they have repair parts available (supply chain issues).
