D10A/D100/D180 series 5.4 firmware released

We're really excited to have D10/D100 firmware version 5.4 available for download.

The major new feature in 5.4 is improved Autopilot pitch axis control algorithms for better performance. In addition to the improved control algorithms, 5.4 offers some new adjustments to fine-tune the Autopilot for your aircraft's unique flight characteristics. See the updated Installation Guide for details on new adjustments that can be used to tune pitch performance.

Did an AP install on 8/31 and had firmware download issue on 5.3 with magnetometer, called support and no mention of new version coming out day after. Now that I've configured AP, etc I have to do it again. I hate doing the firmware updates as there are always issues such as "remote compass not detected", "can't read chip 4" etc. The downloads are slow and generally take multiple attempts.
Why the "BIG" secret on release date of 5.4??

Sorry, that was an oversight. Talking to our tech support person, he says he tried to tell everyone the last couple of days, but must have missed it with your conversation.

Announcing release dates early is always a tough call. We perform thorough testing before we release software, and if during testing we find something we take the time to fix it. But then once testing is done we want to release ASAP. If you ask during a call to us, we are open with this information and will tell you anything that we know to be true on that date.
