Just one more question....for now ;)

Can you please explain/describe how the information gets from the 496 to the D-10A? I mean, is there a Garmin cable I need to buy or do I have to make a cable from scratch? I see only 3 connections on the back of my 496 - one for power, an antenna connection and the mini USB port that my XM weather antenna is connected to. I am a little confused. :-?

Yes, you buy the Garmin power/data cable. One of the wires is a serial output. You connect that into the D10A's serial input. You then set the 496 to output NMEA+VHF information , and make sure that under the advanced NMEA setup that data rate is set to normal, not fast.
