We recently replaced the D10 in our RV7a with a D10a and have been flying with it for just on 100hrs. Just recently the unit has started giving us a temp unstable warning after about 30 sec to a minute after we switch the unit on.(This with the aircraft in the hangar and the OAT at 26deg C) Switching the unit off and then back on seems to sort the problem out.

We have had this happen on another unit in an F1 Rocket. In both installations the units have ample space around them with the Rocket installation having blast tubes to provide cooling. Any thoughts?

Temp unstable means the temperature of the unit is changing too quickly for our calibration to deal with it. We give a different warning if the temperature is too high or too low. Leaving the unit alone for a minute or two should remove this message.

Blast tubes can cause this if they create really fast temperature changes. Not sure what is going on in the hangar- are you forcibly heating or cooling the unit any way, or is it near some very hot piece of equipment?
